Thou shalt not covet ye Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses

by Suw on June 8, 2003

I got new lenses fitted into my glasses yesterday, and whilst I was in the opticians I spotted the most gorgeous pair of sunglasses I have ever seen. I mean, they are just fantastic – all black and broody and with a slight air of Matrixness about them. And jeeze, I look damn fine in them. Only trouble is, they’re Dolce & Gabbana, and they cost more than my prescription lenses did. And I have no money.

I am coveting those sunnies so bad, you would not believe it. More than I covet the new Mac Powerbook.

*sigh*

So, I looked them up on the internet to see if I could find them cheaper anywhere else. I can’t. But I did discover that you can buy actual official Matrix sunglasses, and I’m not sure how I feel about this. I mean, on the one hand, yes, the sunnies are very, very cool. I particularly like Neo’s, but even I would feel a teensy bit too much like a fan if I went out and bought Matrix sunnies (official or fake) just because they were in the Matrix.

I would feel even more too much like a fan if I bought one of Neo’s Vatican-esque frock coats, but you can get those online too, it would seem.

Scary.

That said, there aren’t enough frock coats in this world.

Btw, I did see Reloaded last night. It was very, very good. I had been expecting it to be a little weak, and perhaps a bit cringeful, but it was none of these things.

I’m not going to say much more about it than that though, because I want to see it a couple more times, just to let it sink in. Kate and I stayed up til late last night talking about the implications of what we’d seen, and I have a couple of theories as to what is going on, but I want to consolidate my thoughts before I share them with you.

Plus I’d like to at least make a vague attempt to stop this from turning into the blog of a Matrix-obsessive, even though that is what I’m fast becoming, in my own isolationist way (as much of a fan as I am, I want to reach my own conclusions, so I’m still steering clear of all the Matrix press and opinion for now).

Hm, right, so something else to write about?

*ponders*

Nope, I’m gonna have to get back to you on that one.
