Insomnia

by Suw on January 5, 2004

I just could not sleep last night. My dreams were way too vivid, even for me, including such things as they did like lots of really, really big tarantulas, the cast of Stargate SG1, two copies of my Mum, a kitten with mastitis (huh?) which died, and pine needles that would hatch out more spiders if I didn't hoover them up.

I'd really hoped to get up early and write a bit, but I spent too long just laying there in bed, trying to get to sleep only to be woken up just as I nodded off by another bout of surreality. Or the cat.

Flipside is I've worked out some stuff for one scene I was stuck on, so it's not all bad. But I'm going to change my duvet for a lighter one today – I think I might have been overheating a bit, even though the radiator's off in my bedroom.

Weird, though, is the way that it's always easier to get to sleep at 7am when you have to get up than it is at 5am.

Anyway, back to 'work' today. First job is to search for one. Update later.

Rewriting is rewriting – quelle surprise

by Suw on January 5, 2004

Just rewrote the first really big fight scene after some correspondance with a real proper living breathing swordsman who knows his onions and has kindly offered to advise me as to onions and uses thereof. (Thank you Randal!) It's much better for the attention, which is very satisfying. However, that does mean that I've only actually added all of two minutes to the sp tonight and I'm feeling all kinda stuck on the second half of act 2. I feel the urge to cut significant chunks out. Maybe I should just go with my instincts. I can always stuff stuff back in if I really have to.

Ah well, Rome wasn't built in a day. Although I'd like the name of any city that was.
