The devil truly does make work for idle thumbs

Every now and again one gets a message left on one's phone that one wishes to listen to once again. One also, sometimes, actually does wish to hit '#' and call the person back. Unfortunately, I am a twat and instead of hitting '#' I hit 3, which deleted the fucking message.
So, to the person […]

Edgar and Simon

OK, crappy photo, but it was a dimly lit auditorium and I wasn't exactly right under their noses. There was someone there taking proper photos, so maybe they will appear on the ScriptFactory's site or somewhere.

SotD DVD US release date

Just fyi, Shaun of the Dead will be out on DVD in the States on 21 Dec 04, so go order your copy now! Artwork is different to the UK release, and I understand that the extras may be slightly different too. Hm. Wonder if this means I need to buy another copy…

Teatime of the Dead

The day has come. The day has gone. And my mental state is still somewhere between 'squeeee!' and 'oooooh!'.
Now, we all know that I don't deal well with fan/star situations, we all know that I have a perfectly healthy and not in the least bit obsessive interest in Shaun of the Dead, and we all […]

Sleeping (or not) with a chronic snorer

Whenever I sleep somewhere new, it takes me a while to get used to it. I've stayed with Svet a lot before - we've known each other for about eight years so I've spent a lot of time on the sofabed in her lounge, but this is the first time I've been here on my […]

Are BT blocking VoIP?

I've been working for the last few months with a client with a VoIP product and, out of general enthusiasm for it, I offered to help test it here in the UK using our BT Broadband ADSL service. Our broadband is a consumer, home service, and usually works just fine - it's worked with Skype […]

Priorities, priorities

Got up to London last night, walked through Acton in the pissing rain but felt happy nonetheless. Back in the land of the living.
Almost the first thing I did was look at Svet's computer for ethernet, and was delighted to find it - no need to install a network card then. Was slightly less delighted […]

A month of civilisation

Going to London today for a month. Will be organising a meet-up at some point, but will blog when I've decided when and where. Hopefully will be online by tomorrow, but maybe not til Monday. See you on the other side…

Farewell, John

I really can't quite believe it, but John Peel has died, aged only 65, of a heart attack. (Shit! He was 65? I wouldn't have put him a day over 40.) He was in Peru on a working holiday with his wife.

To call John Peel 'influential' is a bit like calling the sun 'hot'. In […]

My Last.FM neighbourhood

It seems, upon initial inspection, that the vast majority of my Last.FM music neighbourhood - i.e. people who have the same taste in music as I do - are male and between 19 and 21. I am not quite sure what this says about me, but I prefer to think that it means I can […]

I never knew Joi had this much power

I mean, I knew he had the ear of some important people, but I didn't realise he was quite so powerful. I bow down in awe, Oh Great One:

YASN without a point (and two with)

In 1980 a small toy invented by Erno Rubik, a Hungarian obsessed with 3D geometry, became a smash hit. The almost impossible to solve Rubik's Cube was everywhere - in the shops, on TV, in the record books, but mainly in bits on frustrated children's floors.
I, like millions of other kids, had a Rubik's Cube […]

Learning to fly

There are two sorts of blog post: posts written for the reader, and posts written for the writer. This is definitely in the latter category. Equally, there are two best sorts of dreams. Flying dreams and lucid dreams. This post concerns both.
I dream of flying fairly frequently, but not as often as I would like. […]

Late to the Flickr party

I signed up for a Flickr account ages ago - before I'd even moved CnV from Blog-City to Blogware so it must have been early March - but although I've been signed up for months, it's taken me until now to start uploading photos. The impetus was wanting to post photos from last weekend's drinks […]

Microfame, blogs and churn rates

Back in August (see how behind I've been with my blog reading?!) Danny O'Brien chewed on a question that is very close to being a question that's very close to my heart. Danny's questions is 'How Famous Do You Want To Be?'.
The fame question appeared in 1997. We were futzing around doing an NTK Live […]
