First draft of my script now finished. Comes in at 93 pages, which is way too short, but I have other scenes to add and tweaking to do, so it's not really quite a first draft yet. But it's the first time it's been complete end-to-end, so to speak. The dots have been joined. Now I just need to cross the ts and unmix my metaphors.
I'm chuffed as a small horse, though.
Oh, and yesterday's promised post today will come tomorrow. Although I will say Reloaded at the IMAX was fabbie!
Llongyfarchiadau Suw! Massive congrats to you!
That's such a brilliant achievement, I admire anyone who can complete something like that. Come on tell me what it's about. I'm busting to find out and I might be able to tell a few people who (try to) make films for you…
Have you cut that long scene now? Are you pleased with it? Tell me tell me!
Nwdls
I write a monthly newsletter for Welsh filmmakers as part of my job. It's always got the info on all of the funding schemes and training programs running in Wales and the UK. Do you want to be on the mailing list?
Nwdls
Nwdls – yes, I'd love to be on your mailing list! Is it email or snail mail? Email me if you need my street address!
I did talk to the nice people at Sgr?n whilst I was at the Eisteddfod. Picked up all their literature, which was interesting. They could be fairly helpful once I get to the pitching stage.
Ok… what's it about… it's a high concept action/adventure/fantasy. Think Buffy meets Highlander in Reading/Wales. I'm pretty pleased with bits of it, but the second act is really weak. I think I need to replan it from scratch as right now it just doesn't do it for me. The long scenes still needs splitting, but I'll do that in the rewrite. Got a good strong ending though, which is a bonus. 😉
So, Nwdls, what do you actually do for a living? I'm intrigued now!
Great, I'll put you on the mailing list. You should get it today.
Not many Welsh producers doing high concept stuff, more arthouse stuff really as the money just isn't here. Although I do know a person who would be interested in reading it. She hasn't made it big yet but produced a sci-fi feature in N.Wales for near to nothing and made an impression in Cannes.
The tag at the end of the email will tell you what I do for a living, in fact if you read your literature from steddfod…
dwi'm yn gwybod os ydw i fod i siarad Cymraeg ar dy Blog di neu beidio! Be sy well gen ti?
Nwdls
Bendigedig!
Yeah, this script would need a bit of cgi, to put it mildly, but I have other ideas that are more standard dramas. Actually, been thinking about turning the last 18 months of my life into a script. It's got everything – passion, bad luck, betrayal, disaster… 😉 That'd probably be much more doable in terms of low budget filming.
But regardless of whether or not your producer friend has the budget, it would be good to get some feedback on this first script when it's done. I'll email you a copy as and when.
Gyda llaw, dw i'm yn meindio os ti eisiau siarad cymraeg yma. Os dydy pobl ddim yn hoffi gweld y Gymraeg ar fy mlog, maen nhw ar y blog anghwir!
Dw i wedi darllen y l?n Sgr?n yn barod, ond dw i ddim wedi gweld s?n am unrhywun o'r enw 'Nwdls'. LOL
Aah! Dwi ddim wedi galw fy hun yn Rhodri Nwdls fan hyn na? Mae'n amlwg dy fod ti ddim yn mynychu maes-e! Ges ti'r ebost yn iawn?
Nwdls
Do, ces i dy ebost yn iawn, diolch.
Dw i ddim mynychu Maes-E yn aml, achos fy mod i ddim yn deall y gymraeg sy'n cael ei defnyddio yna! Mae'n rhy colloquial imi. 😉
