C17: Day 87 – Run, run, run

March 28, 2017

More from Google Images. The last cat looks a bit goofy, but I swear that it really looked like that in the photo!

C17: Day 86 – More leaping

March 27, 2017

I rather liked the kitties in motion yesterday, so took a look at Google Images for inspiration.

C17: Day 85 – Leaping and sleeping

March 26, 2017

Working off photos again today, from when Grabbity and Mewton were younger and slimmer and had bigger ears, proportionally speaking. Present me is, though, starting to wish that past me had specified “One creative thing five days a week” rather than daily, because there are moments when this starts to feel like a chore. I’m […]

C17: Days 83/84 – Fflwff and kitten Grabbity

March 25, 2017

Took a day off yesterday, so have done double duty today. Cats were uncooperative so worked off photos instead of Fflwff and of a two-week old Grabbity!

C17: Day 82 – Floof!

March 23, 2017

Bit of a mixed bag today. You might spot that the top kitteh today is not Mewton or Grabbity, he’s just a bit too floofy for that! He is, in fact, Emo, one of their brothers, who is basically just made of fur and dribble. Obviously this is from a photo, but it’s not too […]

C17: Day 81 – Lickety spit!

March 22, 2017

Grabbity, covering herself in cat spit. I think I am getting a bit better at these quick sketches.

C17: Day 80 – Nosey parker

March 21, 2017

Bit tricky today as Grabbity just wanted to wash. But I still managed to get a few noses!

C17: Day 79 – Let me tell you a tail

March 20, 2017

Mewton’s tail is quite odd, in some ways. Very broad at the base, but otherwise very slender and sleek. When he fluffs it up (that’s called piloerection, btw) really only the bottom 10cm really fluffs, whereas Grabbity’s tail goes full bottle-brush for the whole length. Anyway, have some tails.

C17: Day 78 – Snoozy washy Mewton

C17: Day 77 – Impressions

March 18, 2017

Mewton had jumped up on to the island in the kitchen, something that he knows he’s not allowed to do, and Grabbity was on the floor watching him. They didn’t stay still, not even for a moment, so here are three incredibly quick impressions of them.

C17: Day 76 – Technical (ha ha) drawing of Mewton

March 17, 2017

I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to measure a cat, but it’s not an easy endeavour. However, I got some basic measurements of Mewton, despite his desire to just sit down, and have done a rough technical drawing, side elevation, of said Mewton. It’s not my best technical drawing, to be honest, rather lacking […]

C17: Day 75 – Little jellybeans

March 16, 2017

Back paws: The top three are Grabbity’s, the bottom one is Mewton.

C17: Day 74 – Ear, ear

March 15, 2017

I really do need to start drawing cats earlier in the day. Lunchtime, maybe, or first thing. Because by evening there’s little light and all the cats want to do is snuggle. So, today, I bring you Mewton’s ears from behind, and at close quarters.

C17: Day 73 – Paws for thought

March 14, 2017

Last night on Facebook, as I was lamenting my general lack of direction, a friend suggested that I focus on one aspect of a cat per day, as the old masters used to. (I’m sure Michaelangelo and Turner both spent hours drawing cats’ paws.) So today is Forepaw Day! Obviously, that meant that both Grabbity […]

C17: Day 72 – Three quickies

March 13, 2017

Grabbity hung around just long enough this evening for three quick sketches. I’m starting to realise, though, that these very quick sketches are doable, but I honestly don’t know what to do next… I know I need to get better at filling in the details, but I’m not quite sure how. The patterns in the fur […]
