I just got the script of Pirates of the Caribbean through the email from Terry Rossio. For those that don't know, Mr Rossio wrote the script along with Ted Elliott and kindly via their web site, WordPlay, offered a copy to anyone who wanted it and was quick enough off the mark to email and ask. I'd post the exactly thread but I can't find it (it's in the Scripts Forum somewhere if you're that keen). Anyway, it just came though, just now.
Gods and little fishes, I am so excited! Have you any idea how excited I am to have this file? Very, very excited.
I'm off to go read it, with the image of Cap'n Jack Sparrow vivid in my mind. Good timing, as I'm off to see it a second time tomorrow. 😀

That was a deeply, deeply satisfying read. The script is a mid-production draft, and is as well written as it is filmed. Interesting to see the number of deleted scenes which are sadly only indicated by the scene number and the word 'omitted', except for one exchange between Norrington and Elizabeth that never made the final cut. Can't wait to see it again tomorrow – wonder if I can spot any other missing bits. Also there were a couple of 'to be writtens' but then, as they say, a script isn't finished until the film premieres (and probably not even then). Well, they probably don't say that exactly, but that's how it goes.
