Me making stuff

by Suw on August 7, 2005

Spent the weekend making jewellery with Kate. It's nice to do something entirely non-cerebral for a change. Managed to surprise myself by not only remembering which end of a soldering iron to pick up, but also how to use one. Actually, I don't remember when I first learnt to use a soldering iron – it's one of those things I learnt so young that I've always been able to do it. Odd to find myself worrying about dry joints when soldering jewellery though. Not really an issue, frankly.
Today I cut my own glass, and ground it into nice shapes. Tomorrow we go to Brighton to get the bits and pieces we need to finish my jewellery off, and then I'll take photos and post them.

I can think of three jewellry related reasons to have not-dry solder joints: strength, hygeine (no cracks) and aesthetics (shiny). OK, so conductivitiy isn't really an issue, but mostly it's the same as for electronics.
