Queen Anne of Denmark

Anne of Denmark was born on 12 December 1574 and died on 2 March 1619. She was queen consort of James VI of Scots, I of England and Ireland, and the mother of Elizabeth of Bohemia.

Anne was born in Jutland, Denmark, lived for a while in Germany with her maternal grandparents before returning to Denmark. She was eventually married off to James VI of Scotland.

In this portrait of Anne of Denmark by Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger, from around 1600 you can see a two string necklace of quite large pearls, with three pendant teardrops.

It’s very difficult to find good quality tear drop glass pearls, so I use spherical ones instead, and space the pendants every four beads.

I also do a ‘Half Anne’ version, which is the lower strand only, with either pearl or Swarovski crystal pendants.
