Eclipse

by Suw on March 3, 2007

Just sitting watching the lunar eclipse. I don't think I've seen a full lunar eclipse on a night as clear as this before in my life. Such a shame that I'm in the middle of London where the light pollution is dreadful. It really is quite beautiful, though – all red and dramatic and portent-y. I'm sure it's a portent for something. Probably going to have a plague of frogs tomorrow. Or chavs. Although one could argue we have one of those already.
Pity my camera would achieve no more than show you a small red speck in a large black sky, really, as I'm sure one could get some beautiful shots if one had decent kit.

We were quite lucky out in Essex and managed to capture this sequence from our bedroom window.

I live in the country and my house is pretty much the only one for half a mile, so th eclipse was great! Sat outside for half an hour or so watching it- and i too attempted some pictures but they really didnt work!

Yeah, I had the same problem with photography. Still, it was very pretty; I'm glad the clouds stayed away for long enough to see it.

Fantastic photos! Just lovely! Wish I'd been able to capture a set like that, but I didn't even try.

Damn. I'll put the gun away then.

Hello Suw,
Been a while since I saw your blog, congratrs on imminent wedding and imminent olympian fitness status.
I too watched the recent lunar eclipse, fabulous to see, and I made an animation from my photos (taken with 300mm lens on a Nikon D70). I blogged it on my site if you get a chance to look.
