Damn jetlag

by Suw on February 19, 2005

Why is it that the one night I really need a full night's sleep, I get only four hours because my stoopid brain thinks it's time to wake up at 2.40am and refuses to go back to sleep again.
I'm gonna be mincemeat by lunchtime. I hate to think how incoherent I am going to be by the time I have to do my panel discussion.

Hi Suw, thought i would comment your jet lag item. In my experience, the best way to deal with the dreaded JL is just:
ignore it. lol

I'm sitting in the audience. So far, you're holding up in fine.

You did well, and you still made it to the party after the conference!

I was there today and you didn't seem tired at all. Thanks for the very interesting talk.

Thanks Mark, Anon, Alex! I somewhat surprised myself by managing to not only stay awake, but also stay feeling relatively perky and alert. Must have got more sleep than I thought I had.

Hi Suw,
You are in my favourite city (and former residence)! Try melatonin (6 mg 1 hr before you want to sleep) for the jet lag. Make sure you walk/roller blade around the sea wall at Stanley Park and check out the museum of cultural anthropology at UBC as well as Wreck Beach.
Also Flying Wedge Pizza (if it is still there) is great and don't forget Granville Island with the Stock Pot for the world's best Black Bean Soup. Can you tell I miss the place?
Have fun.

Hmm, jetlag.
I'm in Britain and I plan to fly to Minneapolis for Easter (hope its not freezing, lol).
How am I going to beat it? Will Melatonin really work?

I guess you'll have to try it and let us know!

I couldn't get my hands on anything on this last trip – too short notice. Don't want to be gloomy but this last jetlag was possibly the worst ever.
I will not leave jetlag pills to the last moment… I will not leave jetlag pills to the last moment … i will not leave … I will not ….
See ya later.
