A full set of BLX

by Suw on April 5, 2004

Wow, I turn my back for one tiny moment and suddenly is everywhere.
I am delighted, though, to welcome Ben Hammersley in to the BLX fold. I feel it?s incredibly important for such a luminary as Ben to take up the BLX standard and run with it, which is exactly what he is doing. Although I am a little concerned about where he?s running to – connectivity in the Sahara being a little shabby, as I understand it.
On the other hand, I find myself deeply hurt and disappointed by AKMA?s stance on all this BLX. I admire and respect AKMA, but one has to remain just a little worried by someone who persists in touting the frankly unreliable .
However, putting that completely in the shade is the shocking news from my O?Reilly?s Pocket BLX co-author Gary Turner that SCO ownz BLX and that a massive legal battle is brewing. One of SCO?s lackeys came into #joiito yesterday and started throwing his (or her?) weight around, changing the topic to “Hereafter to be known as SOB, this is notice to cease and desist any further development or discussion regarding our intellectual property, BLX”.
I tell you, I will not be intimidated by these tactics. I will fight this to the death. BLX is mine, and no one is going to take my BLX away from me.
Maybe AKMA?s most recent post is the way forward, maybe we really do need to join forces in the face of corporate evil and bring BLX together into one Open Unix-Related standard – OpenUR BLX or – as he suggests.
We must unite! It is difficult for me to stay on top of BLX on my own – I need all the support I can get.

Having followed this ongoing saga for the last few days, I have to say that I fear for your sanity.
