Bless. Touch plastic, my commute from college has been OK so far -- I've generally been late through missing the train I wanted to get rather than anything else. It's a pity the trains don't seem to have have been replaced in the five years since I last commuted -- I'm sure I recognise the same graffiti from four years ago. Oh dear. Bless.

The return train ticket to Wivenhoe, near Colchester, including travel from Gatwick, cost over double what I paid to fly from Cologne. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the original reason that all the train companies were Nationalised was due to the asset-stripping short-term profiteering of the Companies at the expense of the National Transport Infrastructure?
